Our Passion for Drilling Started with our Grandfather
Dexter Lee McCray
Our company was founded in 1951 by Dexter Lee McCray, who began drilling wells in Arizona after returning from World War II. In 1946, he and his uncle built their first drill rig by hand, marking the beginning of a family business built on hard work and determination. He established McCray Well Drilling Company in Snowflake, where the original office still stands today.
In 1973, Kelly Willis joined the business, and the next generation, Scott and Chris, grew up learning the trade. Kelly later purchased the company, and in 2006, the family continued the same operation doing business as Willis Drilling and Pump. Kelly retired in 2013, passing the business fully to the next generation.
Today, Scott and Chris, along with their sons, continue running the business, serving communities across Arizona with over 75 years of experience.
